Nick Briggs


Nick Briggs is a UK qualified accountant based in the UK and joined Acumen in 2008. He is head of our UK operations and manages the insurance services platform, including run-off services and run-off acquisitions.

Since joining Acumen, he has worked on a number of (re)insurance engagements including COO of a UK reinsurer and CFO of several Bermuda and US (re)insurers. Prior to Acumen, he worked at Enstar Group in Bermuda, an acquirer and manager of large (re)insurance companies in run-off.

James Austin


James has over 10 years of experience successfully recruiting compliance professionals into Lloyds & London Market and Reinsurance companies in the UK. James has an extensive compliance recruitment knowledge and has a proven track record of placing at all levels from assistant through to director level and working closely with his clients to build out their compliance teams. James has placed more than 100 compliance professionals across the industry and is focussed on providing a tailored service to meet his client’s needs.

Sarah Brown


Sarah leads the recruitment team and recruits for a wide range of roles including Digital & Innovation, Data, Change & Technology, Operations, Claims, HR & Talent, Compliance and Underwriting. Sarah has 20 years recruitment experience and has successfully recruited for a wide range of industries including the Insurance, Reinsurance and InsurTech Markets in the UK. Sarah Brown is a keen advocate for Diversity & Inclusion and is on the committee board of the Insurance Family Network. She is a member of the Insurance Supper Club and an Ambassador for the Employers Initiative for Domestic Abuse which was founded by Dame Inga Beale. She also works with STEM, ACAS, Women in Tech and multiple CIO’s within the Insurance industry to help hire STEM graduates and people with neurodiversity into the IT insurance Industry.

Samantha recruits for Actuarial and Risk positions across student to c-suite, into General Insurance, Life Insurance and Reinsurance companies covering both the UK and Bermuda markets. Samantha brings her extensive actuarial recruitment knowledge to the team. With the ever-changing landscape of Insurance and Reinsurance she is passionate about using effective communication, in-depth understanding, and research to connect the best talent to your tailored business needs no matter how specific or niche. Samantha is a member of Insurance Supper Club and has previously co-written articles for The Actuary magazine with senior actuaries and held talks for FIA students.

Stephanie has a history of successfully recruiting accounting and finance professionals into insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as accountancy firms. Now heading up the Accounting & Finance division at Acumen for the UK and US, Stephanie brings her extensive recruitment knowledge to the team and has a proven track record of placing at middle to C-suite level. Stephanie is passionate about building and maintaining key relationships for the longer term.
