CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Richard Hartley founded Acumen in 2006 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. He has worked for a variety of Bermuda-based international businesses, including several in the reinsurance sector. As part of his work at Acumen, Richard personally acts as a director on a number of Bermuda registered entities in the insurance, shipping, investment, and real estate sectors.
When Richard first arrived in Bermuda in 1998 he worked at Deloitte, and prior to that he worked for Grant Thornton in the UK where he qualified as an accountant.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Nick Briggs is a UK qualified accountant based in the UK and joined Acumen in 2008. He is head of our UK operations and manages the insurance services platform, including run-off services and run-off acquisitions.
Since joining Acumen, he has worked on a number of (re)insurance engagements including COO of a UK reinsurer and CFO of several Bermuda and US (re)insurers. Prior to Acumen, he worked at Enstar Group in Bermuda, an acquirer and manager of large (re)insurance companies in run-off.
HEAD OF US – INSURANCE & REINSURANCE
Taylor joined Acumen in 2023 to launch the company’s operations in the United States with a focus in insurance and reinsurance. In his most recent role, Taylor partnered with insurance companies throughout the US providing actuarial and finance recruiting and staffing support.
During Taylor’s career, he has been able to immerse himself within the US insurance market, attending and speaking at many industry conferences. He was selected as an Emerging Leader in the insurance industry by AM Best and The American Property Casualty Insurance Association.
HEAD OF SINGAPORE
Greg joined Acumen in 2020 to establish our company’s presence in Southeast Asia. He is responsible for managing and developing the Singapore office which caters to (Re)insurance, Health and Tech companies for c-suite, director and senior manager appointments within sales & distribution, operations, underwriting, actuarial, risk, finance & investments, and technology.
Greg has extensive experience recruiting for the financial services sector with a strength in technology and financial accounting hiring. He spent 7 years in Toronto, Canada with a technology recruitment subsidiary of Allegis Group, a global leader in talent solutions. In 2018, he relocated back to his home country of Bermuda and joined an independent HR consulting & outsourcing provider to lead their contract recruitment desk for qualified (Re)insurance accountants.
HEAD OF OUTSOURCING
Ricki is a Chartered Accountant who qualified in South Africa and completed his articles in 2012 with PwC, Johannesburg. He has experience in a range of industries including finance, reinsurance and hospitality.
Ricki has been on the Acumen team since 2013 and manages our portfolio of international clients for whom Acumen provides outsourced accounting and payroll services.
RECRUITMENT DIRECTOR – SOUTH AFRICA
Werner joined Acumen in 2020 with the vision of growing the Acumen recruitment brand in South Africa. He has extensive experience in finance and accounting, audit, and specialised financial recruitment across a range of industries. Werner provides clients with in-depth market knowledge, and access to established networks of hard-to-find talent, both locally and internationally. His team offers tailor made recruitment solutions, RPO solutions, exclusive search assignments, and interim staffing solutions to clients in South Africa and abroad.
