Richard Hartley
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Richard Hartley founded Acumen in 2006 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. He has worked for a variety of Bermuda-based international businesses, including several in the reinsurance sector. As part of his work at Acumen, Richard personally acts as a director on a number of Bermuda registered entities in the insurance, shipping, investment, and real estate sectors.
When Richard first arrived in Bermuda in 1998 he worked at Deloitte, and prior to that he worked for Grant Thornton in the UK where he qualified as an accountant.

Nick Briggs
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Nick Briggs is a UK qualified accountant based in the UK and joined Acumen in 2008. He is head of our UK operations and manages the insurance services platform, including run-off services and run-off acquisitions.
Since joining Acumen, he has worked on a number of (re)insurance engagements including COO of a UK reinsurer and CFO of several Bermuda and US (re)insurers. Prior to Acumen, he worked at Enstar Group in Bermuda, an acquirer and manager of large (re)insurance companies in run-off.

Taylor Dever
HEAD OF US – INSURANCE & REINSURANCE
Taylor joined Acumen in 2023 to launch the company’s operations in the United States with a focus in insurance and reinsurance. In his most recent role, Taylor partnered with insurance companies throughout the US providing actuarial and finance recruiting and staffing support.
During Taylor’s career, he has been able to immerse himself within the US insurance market, attending and speaking at many industry conferences. He was selected as an Emerging Leader in the insurance industry by AM Best and The American Property Casualty Insurance Association.

Casey Doyle
RECRUITMENT AND TALENT ACQUISITION PROFESSIONAL – CAYMAN ISLANDS
Casey is an experienced recruiter who has successfully led candidate search and placement for a wide range of recruiting solutions. Originally from Nottingham in the UK, Casey’s experience has been within the UK recruitment market for over 5 years & most recently working within international sales and client support across the USA specializing in portfolio growth and management.
Here at Acumen, Casey is responsible for finding local and international talent for our clients, and dream roles for skilled candidates, focusing on Insurance, Finance, Operations and Office Support.

Maureen Erasmus
HEAD OF OUTSOURCED PAYROLL
Maureen joined Acumen in 2018 and is a qualified Accountant with years of experience in outsourced accounting, tax, and payroll services in various industries. She oversees a highly skilled team of Payroll Administrators, Supervisors, and Managers that provides outsourced payroll services to a host of Bermuda and Cayman based clients, ensuring quality of work and compliance with relevant legislation.

Paul Fox
UK MANAGING DIRECTOR
Paul joined Acumen in 2023 to lead the UK recruitment arm of the business. Paul has been recruiting into the London insurance market for 15 years, specialising primarily in sourcing Actuarial and Risk professionals. He joins Acumen to help develop our highly skilled recruitment team and to grow our UK Insurance industry partners.
The UK recruitment team’s deep areas of expertise include Actuarial and Risk Management, Finance, Operations, Compliance and Change and Technology.
Paul is well-networked and highly respected for his market knowledge amongst the CRO’s and Chief Actuaries of the UK general insurance market. He has extensive expertise in both executive search and interim resourcing. He has also developed successful teams of contingent recruiters delivering on difficult-to-fill and time-sensitive assignments.

Greg Martin
HEAD OF SINGAPORE
Greg joined Acumen in 2020 to establish our company’s presence in Southeast Asia. He is responsible for managing and developing the Singapore office which caters to re/insurance companies for c-suite, director and senior manager appointments within sales & distribution, underwriting, actuarial, risk, finance & accounting, operations, claims and technology.
Greg has extensive experience supporting the financial services sector with a strength in finance and technology recruitment. He started his recruitment career in 2010 with TEKsystems, the IT staffing subsidiary of Allegis Group recruiting for global investment banks and Canadian insurers on large scale business transformation, investment risk, and regulatory compliance programs. In 2018, he relocated back to his home country of Bermuda and joined an independent HR consulting & outsourcing provider to lead their contract recruitment desk for qualified re/insurance accountants.

Tisha Overton
HEAD OF OUTSOURCED ACCOUNTING
Tisha is a Chartered Accountant who qualified in South Africa and completed her articles in 2018 with Deloitte, Johannesburg. Her professional journey has taken her through diverse industries including Insurance, banking, capital markets, retail, and hospitality, giving her a comprehensive understanding of their financial landscapes.
Joining the Acumen team in 2020, Tisha is responsible for managing our portfolio of international clients, for whom Acumen provides outsourced accounting services.

Werner Saayman
RECRUITMENT DIRECTOR – SOUTH AFRICA
Werner joined Acumen in 2020 with the vision of growing the Acumen recruitment brand in South Africa. He has extensive experience in finance and accounting, audit, and specialised financial recruitment across a range of industries. Werner provides clients with in-depth market knowledge, and access to established networks of hard-to-find talent, both locally and internationally. His team offers tailor made recruitment solutions, RPO solutions, exclusive search assignments, and interim staffing solutions to clients in South Africa and abroad.

Ricki Thorn
HEAD OF OUTSOURCING
Ricki is a Chartered Accountant who qualified in South Africa and completed his articles in 2012 with PwC, Johannesburg. He has experience in a range of industries including finance, reinsurance and hospitality.
Ricki has been on the Acumen team since 2013 and manages our portfolio of international clients for whom Acumen provides outsourced accounting and payroll services.

Kim Vlietstra
HUMAN RESOURCE BUSINESS PARTNER
Kim’s qualifications in Industrial Psychology and Organisational Development and her experience in the people space for over 13 years, has led her to proficiently leverage psychology and organisational development principles to deliver significant impact in the corporate landscape.
Kim’s career began in recruitment and later she joined a prominent financial services firm as Regional Human Resource Manager, recognised for her expertise, Kim joined the national People and Culture Management Committee.
Throughout her journey she has successfully lead projects focusing on talent management, retention and developmental strategies, developing and implementing policies and procedures, designing psychometric assessment initiatives for recruitment and leadership development and implementing automation solutions to enhance HR efficiency.
